HUD NSPIRE August Newsletter: NSPIRE Training and Updated Resources

In this August 2023 issue of our HUD-REAC-NSPIRE Monthly Newsletter, I will be going over NSPIRE training and some new resources announcements!

New NSPIRE Resources

On August 11th, HUD updated some of the Standards but there were no earth-shattering changes…mostly fixing grammatical issues and updating instructions to inspectors.  However, I decided to create a tool where you can see every deficiency under each NSPIRE Standard and its respective Health and Safety classification.  Instead of just copying the deficiency exactly, I included the parameters that must be met before it can be cited.

Here is a preview of what they look like:

You can download the 3 PDF’s (Outside, Inside and Unit deficiencies) here:

Additionally, July’s Part 2 Newsletter walks you through how to make a NSPIRE Scoring “Cheat-sheet” – you can access it here (scroll to the bottom 2-step process):

  1. Web 3 – Fire Safety Deficiencies
  • NSPIRE has many new deficiencies that were not cited under the UPCS protocol.  This webinar will go over all of the new fire safety deficiencies as well as fire safety deficiencies you may be familiar with…but have new parameters that must be met in order to be cited.
