Inspector Notice 2021-02

  • Posted August 10, 2021 and effective immediately!
  • The 28-day notification of inspections is coming to an end September 30, 2021 for all properties that are not HUD insured and/or do not have a HUD loan. From October 1st on, the REAC inspection notification will revert back to a 2-week notice.
  • REAC inspectors are required to wear a mask during the inspections
  • For senior properties (51% or more elderly), the inspector is required to wear a face shield in addition to the mask and gloves.
  • Wearing gloves is mandatory for conducting inspections in senior/elderly and/or health care facilities.  For all other types of properties, wearing gloves is now optional.
  • Only 1 escort is permitted still in the units with the REAC inspector.

REAC Updated FAQs

  • The main change to this document is on Page 18 reflecting the CDC’s new eviction moratorium order announced on August 3 temporarily halting evictions in counties with heightened levels of transmission.  This order remains in effect through October 3, 2021.
